The JET Foundation's JET Achievers awards

Hawthorne, CA - The JET Foundation's JET Achievers awards were on program at Atherton Baptist Church's Youth recognition Sunday July 25th. $2500.00 was given to students in the JET Foundation's Youth Leadership and Success Institute (YLSI) on the historic campus of L A Southwest College (LASC).

YLSI meets on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays from October 2010 through June 2011 8:30 am-2:00 pm. To be a JET Achiever you have to be in YLSI, qualify for the Pay for A's program, GPA Improvement Incentive and/or be a Senior High School Graduate and receive the Roberta Jackson/Carletta Jackson Battee Memorial Scholarship.

Fifteen of the twenty-three award recipients attended the event, as well as parents, volunteers, supporters on other students in the YLSI program. The event was high energy and well attended!

J. Eldridge Taylor Jr. "Mr. JT" MC'd the JET portion of the event, past scholarship recipient Mulena Vanardo handed out the awards and Issac Hughes took the pictures. A Huge "Thank You" goes to Pastor Larry D. Weaver and Peggy Barton-Scholarship Ministry-Chair of Atherton Baptist Church for putting on this worthy event and allowing JET Foundation to participate for the 4th consecutive year!
