The JET Foundation continually seeks ways to be an effective
enrichment to youth and has developed and incorporated as part
of its core curriculum a “cognitive
approach” to behavioral change. This “cognitive
approach” involves developing four basic “senses”
which when possessed by young people, builds self-esteem and
develop into responsible citizens and leaders.
These
senses are:
1)
A Sense of Belonging - an environment where young people know
they are welcome, where they fit in and are accepted
2)
A Sense of Usefulness - the opportunity to do something of value
3)
A Sense of Competence - creates a feeling of pride when young
people know they can do something and do it well
4)
A Sense of Power and Influence - a chance to be heard and influence
decisions
Lastly, the lastly The JET Foundation will conduct yearly family
retreat(s) Stay and Thrive: In
School In Leadership in Life; Roadmap for Student and Parent
Success that will focus on bringing the family
together to encompass the above topics as well as address serious
issues of the day that by being informed will bring the family
closer together.
